Croesyvceiliog FC - 1
Abergavenny Town FC - 3
THE ‘Town’ made it two away wins in the space of six days after their Friday night victory in front of a bumper crowd at Croesyceiliog’s Woodland Road ground.
Town took an early lead going ahead after only four minutes when Rhys Tandy went on a trademark run down the left wing and found Richard Jeremiah who wasted no time in finding the net.
Will Duggan nearly extended Town’s lead but his shot was well saved, and Dan Hartland looked certain to score as the half hour approached, only for a brilliant block tackle in the box to deny him.
In the second-half Town were slow to start and Croesy had their best effort of the game so far, but fired wide of Indge’s post.
However, they were rewarded for their efforts just as the hour approached when they were awarded a penalty and although Indge brought off a stunning save, the ball fell kindly for Croesy to net the rebound.
Shortly after Town started to improve their game. Hartland broke into the box on the right, but elected to shoot rather than pass, and after 70 minutes when Town were awarded a corner a bullet header was punched to safety by Croesyceiliog’s ‘keeper.
Town’s pressure started to tell and with ten minutes remaining they were awarded a penalty themselves with Hartland’s power blast giving the ‘keeper no chance, as Town regained the lead. With five minutes left Croesyceiliog failed to learn the lesson from a previous corner and when the spot kick was floated over it was Town’s Ross Davies who met the cross, firing into the roof of the net to seal Town’s victory.
On Saturday Town are hoping to make it three away wins in a row when they travel to Swansea based West End FC
Meanwhile Town’s reserve side suffered a 3-0 reverse at the hands of Bridgend Street in the Tremorfa district of Cardiff.
