Tredegar Town FC - 0

IN another match played in difficult conditions it was Town who got off to a storming start when Craig Norman put them ahead after only three minutes.

Tredegar, lying one place below fourth-placed Town in the table seemed to take the setback in their stride and it was their midfield who started to dominate, but they could only muster one strike on Tom Indge’s goal.

In the second half Town started to take control and they went close to increasing their lead, not least when Dan Jenkins hit the post.

The turning point came 75 minutes in when Tredegar’s Gareth Stevens was dismissed for a second yellow card. Eight minutes later Dean Morgan was up-ended in the penalty box and up stepped club captain Jamie Summers to slot home from the spot.

Town looked certain to increase their lead two minutes later when a superb Jac Evans cross found Morgan but the marksman, like Jenkins, saw his effort rebound of the post.

This win sees Town record their first double of the season, having beaten Tredegar in the opening match of the season. With two more goals added to their tally, Town are now the divisions’ top goal scorers, and travel to third placed Pontypridd Town on Saturday knowing that victory will see them leapfrog their hosts into third place.
