Caerau FC - 6
ABERGAVENNY Town came a cropper at Caerau and have dropped to second in the Welsh League Division Three table as a result.
Town spurned two gilt edge chances in the opening moments and were made to pay heavily when Robbie Walters’ half volley put Caerau ahead after nine minutes.
Dylan Llewellyn doubled their lead three minutes later and further Town grief followed just after the half hour mark when Ryan Morgan got the first of his brace.
Five minutes later Town were handed a life-line when Caerau’s ‘keeper Matthew Rees needlessly gave away a penalty which Town’s skipper Jamie Summers converted.
However, any hope that this might prove a platform for recovery were quickly dashed when Dylan Llewellyn met a right wing cross to restore Caerau’s advantage.
The second half saw Town come more into the game and they were rewarded midway through when Dean Morgan found the net.
Town continued to press but thoughts that they might salvage a point quickly disappeared when Ryan Morgan stole in at the far post to beat Town’s keeper ‘Wookey’ and Chay Davies completed a miserable day for Town when he scored Caerau’s sixth close to the final whistle.
Town now sit in second place, locked on 13 points with both Pontypridd and Caerau. They will have the chance to make amends on Saturday when they entertain Newport YMCA at Pen-y-Pound (2.30pm).
Off the field Town are gearing up for “An evening with John Hartson.” The former Wales, Celtic and Arsenal star appears at their club on Friday, October 23. Contact details for tickets, which are priced at £25:00 per person, or as tables of ten, will be announced very soon.
