Dinas Powys FC - 0

THOSE who chose to stay away from a rain-swept Pen-y-Pound Stadium last Friday night missed Town’s best performance of the season as they recorded their fourth consecutive league victory.

Town thought they had taken an early lead after only eight minutes, but referee Ben Scofield chalked off their effort.

After 15 minutes Dinas Powys had their best attack of the game, firing powerfully at Town’s ‘keeper Tom Indge, but the veteran showed all his experience and a strong pair of hands to deny them the score.

Town broke the deadlock on 38 minutes when Curtis Methven netted, and Dinas Powys suffered a double whammy two minutes later when Aaron Norman’s blistering drive found the bottom corner of the net to give Town a comfortable half-time lead.

If Town looked good in the first half then they totally dominated play in the second-half. The highlight of which was Sean Feeley’s solo run, which culminated in an expert chip over the Dinas Powys goalkeeper to give Town an unassailable lead and another welcome three points.

Apart from this win an added bonus for Town was the appearance of striker Richie Jeremiah and fit-again Nathan Davies, both as second half substitutes.

On Saturday, Town make a quick return trip to Swansea, scene of their recent Welsh Cup exit, this time visiting West End FC in the Mayhill district of the city (2.30pm).

Meanwhile Town’s reserve fixture at Treharris last Saturday fell victim to the weather. However it is the reserve side’s turn to get the Friday night spotlight tomorrow night when they entertain Cwmbran Celtic (7.30pm). Both side boast unbeaten records.
