Aberdare Town FC - 1

Town’s reserve side lost their unbeaten record last Friday in a 2-1 defeat at home to Cwmbran Celtic, but on the previous Wednesday night Town’s first team continued their fine run.

Hot on the heels of their 3-0 drubbing of Dinas Powys they vanquished Aberdare Town with goals from Sean Feeley and Rhys Tandy as Town recorded their fifth consecutive league victory, lifting them to their highest ever league position – fourth in Welsh League Division two - to the delight of managerial duo Ben Bannon and Phil Hemmings.

The only black spot on the evening was the dismissal of recent new signing William Duggan, who has slotted into the side so well.

Town will be hoping for six of the best as there is more Friday night football at Pen-y-Pound Stadium tomorrow night when Town take on AFC Llwydcoed (kick off 7.30pm).

Having already beaten Llwydcoed 1-2 last month, which coincidentally was the start of their recent string of victories, Town will be looking to record their first double of the season.

On Saturday Town’s reserve side will be looking to return to winning ways travelling to basement boys Treowen Stars (2.30pm).

Meanwhile Town’s Youth side put aside the disappointment of their 3-4 home league reversal at the hands of FC Cwmaman, when two of Town’s players required medical treatment, to record a convincing 0-5 away Cup win over division stablemates AFC Bargoed.

They followed this up last Sunday with the 6-0 demolition of Valley Blades in the league, with goals from Eliott Simmonds, Callum Tew, Conner Lewis, Billy Merrill Glover and Josh James who grabbed a brace. On Sunday they make a quick return to Bargoed, this time for a league encounter.
