Despite the best efforts of the biblical rain fall over night, the pitch at Mardy FC was suitable to host Abergavenny Town Juniors U14s game against Riverside Rovers.
On the back of a famous victory the weekend before when nine players ran out 8-0 winners against Caldicot Town, the Town took on the Newport team and finished with an impressive 10-2 scoreline.
On another day, the score would have been higher with many chances missed in front of goal by the Town.
Goals on the day came from Jack McCarthy, Will Morris and Jack Skelton.
The team this year has been refreshed with new signings strengthening the team.
Town were supported again by Anthony Davies Builders who have sponsored the new playing strip.
This Saturday, the team face Crumlin FC in the first round of the Cup. Kick-off is 10.30am at Mardy FC.
