LAST Saturday members of Abergavenny Rhinos junior football club visited Premier League club Stoke City as guests for their match against Manchester United.
The trip came after the Rhinos joined just 12 other clubs in Wales who have gained the prestigious FAW/McDonald’s Gold accreditation award.
The youngsters had a day to remember as Guards of Honour, welcoming both teams onto the pitch, and at half-time the Rhinos were invited pitch side where they had a team photo taken.
To cap a fabulous day for the youngsters, Wayne Rooney scored in the 94th minute to equalise and break Sir Bobby Charlton’s long standing United record.
Abergavenny Rhinos Head coach Simon Mansfield told the Chronicle, “Everyone at Abergavenny Rhinos would like to say a big thank you to Stoke city for a fantastic day and one the young players will remember for a very long time.
“It’s been a fantastic start to the season for the club. To gain Gold accreditation and join just 12 other clubs in Wales, is something that everyone at the Rhinos is very proud of.”
