ABERGAVENNY Rhino Mini and Junior Football Clubs have just brought the curtain down on their most successful season, both on and off the pitch.

The club which only founded in 2011, has gained the FAW’s Bronze, Silver and finally Gold Accreditation (which was successfully renewed this year), and the FAW’s Fun Football Accreditation.

The efforts of the Rhinos’ founder and driving force Simon Mansfield were recognised when he picked up the FAW / McDonald’s Community Football Outstanding Achievement of the Year Award for work in Grassroots Football.

The success didn’t end there, as the U13 Blacks continued their stellar season with another trophy, winning a hugely competitive Rhinofest U13 festival, pitting their wits against teams from England and other leagues within Wales. This was the first time the Rhinofest has been held, aligning with the Rhino mini/junior festival that has been successfully going for a number of years. The club would like to thank the sponsors on the day that contributed to a great day allowing proceeds to go towards new kits and equipment for the new season, the sponsors included Smiles Better, 57 Bridge Street, Morrisons, JP Prints and Waitrose.
