Abergavenny Women - 4
Cyncoed Ladies - 0
Abergavenny Women were out for revenge on Sunday against current Premier League Cup holders Cyncoed who beat them twice last season.
Before kick-off both teams and supported stood in silence to respect the fallen from all conflicts throughout the world.
Captain fantastic Ceri Hudson was making her 100th premier league appearance and was presented with a bottle of bubbly before the match by manager Richie Jeremiah.
Abergavenny made just one change with Katie Adams coming back into the side at the expense of 18-year-old Megan Jones.
On a sticky pitch Abergavenny made a bright start. They had plenty of possession but didn’t create a clear cut opportunity until 30 minutes in when Kate Jeremiah calmly slotted home to settle nerves.
Led by captain Ceri Hudson the midfield were in total control with youngster Sian Bull continuing to impress.
Despite their domination Abergavenny couldn’t increase their lead before the break and against a side packed with junior Welsh internationals the game was still in the balance.
In the second-half Abergavenny began to put the finishing touches to their build up play. A trademark Kate Jeremiah corner found the head of leaping midfielder Laura Davies who headed home to double the advantage.
Just five minutes later another headed goal saw Lyndsey Davies seal the points.
With 15 minutes remaining substitute Naomi Cook did well to beat the keeper and cross the ball for Lynsdey Davies to head in for her second header and make it 4-0 at the close of play.
Special mention must be made of the defence who have now kept six clean sheets in seven games this season, more than any team in Wales.
It’s Welsh Cup action at Pen-y-Pound on Sunday as Cascade come to town with a quarter-final spot up for grabs.
