ABERGAVENNY Town were on the back-foot from the get go against Panteg who made an explosive start and found the the net within 30 seconds.
This defensive blunder by Town’s normally tight defence was soon put to bed as the home side
bounced back into the game after 16 minutes, courtesy of a penalty which Louis Feeley slotted home.
Two minutes later and disaster struck again! Town conceded a penalty and the visitors regained the advantage.
However, the hammer blow came just before the interval when Town’s Ross Oakley, who was already on a yellow card, picked up a second and was sent off.
The second half was an uphill fight with Town finding it difficult to string passes together. Warning bells were ringing on the hour when an under-hit pass back put Town in trouble, with Town’s stopper, Tom Indge pulling off a brilliant save. But there was no reprieve ten minutes from the end as Town pushed forward, Panteg broke to notch their third goal and seal the tie.
The ‘Cable news’ man of the match for Town was Aaron Norman.
On Saturday, Town return to their league programme, entertaining newly promoted, and as yet unbeaten, STM Sports at Pen-y-Pound (kick-off 2.30pm).
Meanwhile Town’s reserve side made it two wins on the bounce returning from Risca Utd., with a 2-4 victory. Tom Jenkins bagged a brace and Nathan Davies and Jake Heckles scored one apiece.
