EARLIER this month Llanfoist Juniors held their annual awards ceremony at Llanfoist Village Hall.
In a celebration of fun and football, all players received trophies and there were individual awards for those demonstrating particular talents, enthusiasm, development and spirit.
This year’s awards saw individual prizes across the age group voted for parents, players and managers.
A special ‘Spirit of the Club’ award was given to Joe Aspley who has shown fantastic courage, commitment and enthusiasm in the face of physical challenges this year.
All teams were well represented with parents, grandparents, siblings and other relatives all coming together to celebrate another successful season.
The club gave thanks to all those who had sponsored them over the last year including Gas Mark One, Alun Griffiths, Keith Price, Southwest Solutions and 3d-Pi. They were also grateful to the Grofield for providing refreshments and food on the day.
The day included a crunching grudge match between coaches and parents, with the coaches squeezing through 4-3, much to their relief.
This was a particular memorable event as it will be the last under the name of Llanfoist Juniors. The club has now linked with Abergavenny Town FC Seniors to form Abergavenny Town Juniors FC which they hope will develop into a flagship football club for Abergavenny and the surrounding area.
The aim is to promote junior football for all kids from 4-16 within the junior structure before players can move on to under-18 and look to break into the senior sides. It offers a clean pathway and vision for kids wanting to pursue football more seriously whilst still supporting the fun and social aspect of junior sport and ensuring it is accessible to all.
