PANTEG 1 - 4 ABER TOWN
Abergavenny Town had the best possible start at a sodden Panteg House ground taking the lead after only two minutes when a strong run by Dan Jenkins brought dividends when he set up Richie Jeremiah who fired into the top corner.
Town, who were setting up numerous chances, had further joy when Jamie Summers stole in at the far post to head home from a right wing corner.
The right flank was again Panteg’s undoing when Jeremiah volleyed home to give Town a comfortable half time lead. In the second half, Jeremiah showed he had lost none of his appetite putting Town four goals ahead and completing his hat trick as the hour mark approached.
When Town’s central defender Jamie Summers clashed with Panteg’s Mike Davies both men saw red as referee Gardiner dismissed both for violent conduct, and this gave Panteg some hope as Rhys Williams reduced the deficit with twenty minutes remaining.
Panteg came more into the game in the ten minute spell which followed, but Town remained strong and savoured victory to add to Saturday’s win at Tredegar Town. With both of their opening fixtures completed Town sit in second place in the division and are at home for the first time this season next Wednesday (6.30pm) when they again face Panteg.
