FIRST half goals from Florin Cranic and Joe Thomas secured a 2-1 win for Ross Juniors 1st XI away to Ledbury Town 2nds.

The hosts hit back from 2-0 down at half-time to make it 2-1, but Ross held on to take all three points, a result which closes the gap to the top of the Herefordshire Division One table to six points.

The visitors stay fifth, but local rivals Fownhope lost top spot after being held to a 2-2 draw at Tenbury Town, with Joe Harwood and Mackenzie Rees the marksmen for the Wyeside village team, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary.

Halfway through the first half, Matt Evans showed great composure to fire a low drive under the keeper to make it 1-0.

And the lead was doubled on 25 minutes, when Tyler Weir smashed a free-kick from the edge of the box into the top corner.

Moreton’s No 9 missed a golden chance three minutes later, blasting a low cross over from four yards out, before Daffs keeper George Weaver made a point-blank save to deny them just before the break.

He saved the visitors again midway through the second period with another fine stop, tipping a chance over for a Moreton corner.

Brindley Woodward then cleared a looping shot off the line for a corner which was headed wide, but the Daffs held on to win through.

A Ryan Clarke goal was the sole consolation for Lydbrook Athletic as they went down 4-1 away to Frampton United 2nds, leaving them anchored to the bottom of Gloucestershire Northern Senior Division Two.

But Steve Clarke and Ben Ball downed the Whitecroft reserves on Saturday as Ruardean Hill Rangers 2nds ran out 2-0 winners to take them six points clear of the danger zone in the league.

And second-placed Huntley didn’t even have to lace their boots up, given a home win against English Bicknor 2nds who couldn’t honour the fixture.

And their A string were beaten 3-0 at home by Division Three high-flyers Lydbrook A, with David Fennell, Garon Powell and Nathan Whittaker on target.
