Abergavenny Women - 6
Llandudno Ladies - 1
Abergavenny Women celebrated 100 days on top of the Welsh Premier Women’s League on Sunday with a thumping 6-1 victory against last season’s Welsh Cup finalists Llandudno.
And it was a case of keeping up with the Daviess as all six goals were shared by Lyndsey Davies (4) and player of the match Laura Davies, who netted twice to cap a fine individual performance.
On a sticky pitch after awful weather in the days leading up to the game, Abergavenny dominated, and whilst it took time to turn pressure into goals, the ladies never looked anything other than comfortable.
Lyndsey Davies scored twice in the first half, but a fine finish from the edge of the box gave the visitors from North Wales hope at half-time.
The second half saw Abergavenny put the game to bed as Lyndsey scored two more, whilst namesake Laura also got a brace to finish the scoring for the home side.
It’s all set up now for an almighty clash next weekend, as the top two clash at Pen-y-Pound when Swansea City come to town.
