AFC Llwydcoed - 1
AFC Llwydcoed gained revenge for their 5-1 mauling at Pen-y-Pound last month with a narrow win over the Town.
Aber had an early chance to take the lead with a free kick, but Coed’s keeper Andrew Hargreaves spooned his save. Town were quick to ram the ball into the back of the net, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Shortly after Hargreaves blocked a fierce Luke Lewis drive with his legs. Meanwhile at the other end, Town’s keeper Aurelious brought off a fine save when one on one with a Coed striker. However all this good work was undone on 35 minutes when Town needlessly conceded a corner and Coed were first to the scramble to poke the ball home.
Hargreaves mirrored Aurelious’s earlier save, denying Sam Oakley in a similar one on one situation, as the hosts went into the half time break with a slender lead.
The second half was a scrappy affair, with Coed’s tight pitch not helping matters. Town tended to over-hit the ball, and the bone dry conditions saw the ball often bounce over the heads of their strikers.
Town loaded their front line and went close in several goal mouth melees. Sean Feeley had a chance to equalise late in the game, but his effort went over the bar, as Coed won the day.
On Saturday, Town are home to Ammanford (ko 2.30), whilst the following Friday evening (May 5) they play their final game of the season entertaining Llanelli Town, who by then will surely be crowed champions. Kick off is 7.45pm.
