Town got off to the worst possible start at the Bulldogs’ Ynys Park ground, conceding in the first minute, but they showed their resolve when Craig Norman equalised 15 minutes later.
Ton Pentre regained the lead eight minutes from half time, and dealt Town a hammer blow, extending their lead on the stroke of the half time whistle.
Town juggled their formation ten minutes into the second half bringing on Sean Feeley to play up front and shifting Craig Norman to his favoured mid-field position, and the move soon paid dividends with Feeley being brought down in the box as he was about to pull the trigger.
When Craig Norman stepped up to score from the spot and claim his second goal of the game it looked as if Town might force the tie into extra time.
However, the Bulldogs scored again with 14 minutes remaining to settle the tie.
Town return to league action on Saturday with an away trip to Briton Ferry Llansawel.
Behind the scenes Town are looking to strengthen their squad by bringing in a much needed front man.
Town’s development side continued on their winning ways beating leaders Cambrian and Clydach at Pen-y-Pound to the tune of 3-0 and placed themselves joint top of the league. Goals came from Owen Vaughan, Curtis Methven and Richard Jeremiah.
