McDonald’s ambassador Nathan Blake recently joined Abergavenny Rhinos FC and the Welsh FAW as they hosted a Community Football Day to celebrate the work of FAW accredited clubs throughout the Abergavenny local area.
The event, hosted by Abergavenny Rhinos FC, saw hundreds of young footballers gather to enjoy the day, which gave attending clubs the opportunity to meet volunteers from their local communities and recruit new players.
McDonald’s ambassador Nathan Blake and former Cardiff City striker met with hundreds of players and was on hand to pose for photographs throughout the day, sharing his football knowledge with the young minds in attendance.
McDonald’s ambassador Nathan Blake said, “It was incredible to see so many kids and their families enjoying the event at Abergavenny. It was evident that the passion for football runs deep throughout the local community. The club has done a great job at bringing a so many people together and it was fantastic to be a part of it.”
He continue, “The McDonald’s Welsh FA Community Football Days are a great opportunity to get local kids involved in grassroots football. With the enthusiasm and commitment shown by the volunteers and coaches today, I’m sure we’ll find some future Welsh stars in some of these teams.”
“Community Football Days are a great occasion where families can get together and celebrate local football,” said local McDonald’s franchisee David Balcombe.
“It’s a pleasure to come to events like this and see the work we at McDonald’s do with the local community in action. I’m sure all those involved in the day had a fantastic time and I will certainly continue to help support the club in the future.”
The Community Football Day was part of McDonald’s community partnership with The Welsh FA. As the longest standing partner of the Welsh FA, McDonald’s this year celebrates its 15th anniversary of championing those who enable children and young adults to play and enjoy football, regardless of gender or disability.
The programme focuses on supporting accredited grassroots clubs and their volunteers to raise the standards of grassroots football across the UK and improving the grassroots experience for young aspiring footballers.
