IT was a close run thing for Abergavenny Town at Bettws last Saturday, and the tension showed in a bad tempered second half, which was hardly a feast of fast-flowing football.

Town’s best work was done in the first 45 minutes when Craig Norman gave them the lead, only for this to be surrendered five minutes later.

Next it was Bettws’s turn to take the lead when Leighton Williams headed home.

Town drew level on the half hour when Norman struck again, and he also pushed them into the lead, with what turned out to be the final score, three minutes later.

On Saturday, Town are home to Cwm Welfare with a later kick off time of 2.30pm.

Town’s reserve side suffered their first defeat in five games losing 2-4 at Pen-y-Pound to Croesyceiliog. Town’s goals came from Nathan Davies who was on target again, and Ryan Groves.
