Abergavenny Women - 4
Cardiff City Women - 1
ABERGAVENNY turned the style on last Sunday and walked all over their big city opponents to secure a league cup semi-final spot.
The blue army came out firing at Pen-y-Pound and chances fell to Kate Jeremiah, Maxine Mudge, and Katie Adams in the first five minutes, but the bluebirds keeper did well to hold them at bay.
Ten minutes in Lyndsey Davies pulled a ball back from the byeline and found Kate Jeremiah six yards out, who finished neatly to settle the nerves and claim the lead.
Abergavenny continued to pile on the pressure and it was no surprise when Maxine Mudge doubled her side’s lead with a left foot strike.
Cardiff City hit back before the break with a well taken goal and despite Abergavenny’s domination it was very much game on at the interval.
With such a big prize up for grabs Abergavenny came out in the second-half looking to put the game out of reach. On the hour mark they did just that with the goal of the game.
Amy Thrupp found Jeremiah on the right, who cut in, before linking up with Lyndsey Davies for a majestic one two, before calmly slotting the ball home.
With the game won Abergavenny turned on the style and Mudge capped off a fine team display with goal number four and an emphatic win.
The whole club can now look forward to a semi-final clash in January.
