Abergavenny Women - 5

Rhyl Ladies - 1

Abergavenny Women FC finish September on top of the Welsh Premier League thanks to a fourth straight victory in what turned out to be a feisty affair against a visiting Rhyl.

Aber’s North Wales opponents finished the game with nine players due to two red cards.

Their manager was also forced to sit out the game in the changing room due to a red card infringement during the second half.

Abergavenny started the game well and went 1-0 up five minutes in, when top scorer Lyndsey Davies found the net, to make it seven goals in four games.

An Alana Murphy goal nine minutes later settled the nerves, and shortly after came goal of the match from inspirational captain Ceri Hudson who hammered home a free kick from 30 yards.

Despite losing a player to two yellow cards, Rhyl managed to pinch one back before half-time to make it 3-1.

The visitors’ second red card came early in the second half when Welsh international Amy Thrupp was taken down when clean through.

Abergavenny made it 4-1 on the hour mark when Kate Jeremiah was sent through and neatly rounded the keeper to slot home and make it game over.

Jeremiah capped a fine performance shortly after with a superb free kick from out on the right which went in off the cross bar to finish the scoring.

Job done!
