Aberystwyth Town Ladies - 0

Abergavenny Women - 4

Abergavenny Women kicked off 2017 in fine style with a thumping 4-0 win away at Aberystwyth.

Former Aberystwyth player Gabi Hughes scored her first league goal of the season 12 minutes in after neatly finishing some good build up play down the left from Alana Murphy.

The midfield pairing of Ceri Hudson and Laura Davies took total control of the game and it was only a matter of time before a fine cross come shot from right winger Kate Jeremiah made it 0-2.

Lyndsey Davies almost made it 0-3 just before the break but was thwarted by the keeper.

The second half proved to be a scrappy affair, nevertheless Abergavenny extended their advantage just before the hour mark thanks to a penalty slotted home by the league’s top scorer Lyndsey Davies, who made it 17 league goals in just ten matches.

Kate Jeremiah wrapped up the scoring to bag her brace and seal a convincing start to 2017 for Abergavenny Women FC, who continue to pile the pressure on league leaders Swansea City.
