IN the wake of another two hard fought games, Abergavenny Town Girls Under 12s are on their way to clinching their first trophy of the season.

The girls beat Villa Dino 3-1 with a brace from striker Macey McCann and and a solitary strike from Captain Chelleter Graham-Sawyers.

The girls were held to 1-1 draw by a very spirited Coed Eva team. Macey McCann scored the equaliser after Coed Eva had taken the lead.

In both games the girls had to work hard to grind out the results. The girls created numerous chances in both games, but for the first time this season just couldn’t seem to put the ball away.

It was also the first time since the first game of the season that the team had conceded a goal, but the defence of Bella Wilce, Cristyn Powell and Brooke Davies didn’t look troubled by the opposition.

Keeper Katie Barker has very little to do on a cold day, but was on form when called into action. The midfield trio of Sophie Engel, Mia Sherrard and Chelleter Graham-Sawyers again battled strongly with the attacking players Macey Mccann, Ruby Gould and Carys Pond creating good chances. New signing Megan Welford showed some great play, and will clearly add to an already strong squad.
