Abergavenny Town Girls Under 12s enjoyed a double whammy of success last weekend.

On Saturday they stormed to a 2-1 win over Albion Rovers, and on Sunday the girls came out 2-0 winners against Thornhill Athletic.

The girls played some excellent football with the team being both solid in defence and dangerous in attack.

With regular keeper Katie Barker away, Tirion Staple stepped forward to take over between the posts. Tirion was excellent in both matches particularly the Albion game where she pulled off some fine saves.

Meg Welford netted a double in the Albion game, and was supported over the weekend by fellow attackers Ruby Gould, Carys Pond, and Macey McCann.

Sunday’s match saw Ruby Gould bag the first, and Sophie Engel getting her reward with a goal for her tireless work in midfield.

During both games, defenders Brooke Davies and Cristyn Powell were outstanding, keeping both teams in check.

Bella Wilce stepped into midfield during the weekend and delivered an outstanding performance. Chelleter Graham-Sawyers, Mia Sherrard and Engel completed the midfield with the unit dominating both games.

Sunday’s game saw Isabella Rudge continue her progression with another fine display in her first few months of football.

In the wake of the results, the girls move up to third in the table with two matches to play.
