Abergavenny Town Girls Under 13s eventually got to play a competitive match after a six week layoff.
The girls were drawn against Cardiff Crusaders in the quarter final of the league cup and cruised to a comfortable 4-1 victory with goals from Eleri Jones and a hat-trick by Gracie Grosvenor.
It was the first time the team had met the Crusaders who have just polished off a successful season by winning Division Two in the South Wales Girls league.
The Aber Girls, who finished second in Division One of the leagues, were quick to make their mark in the game and controlled the match from the first to the final whistle.
The midfield trio of Sophie Engel, Chelleter Graham-Sawyers and Mia Sherrard controlled the game in both attack and defence, which allowed the front players of Eleri Jones, Gracie Grosvenor and Ruby Gould to create havoc in the Cardiff ranks.
The defensive unit of Bella Wilce, Bobbi Allcock, Cristyn Powell, Meg Welford and Carys Pond were solid all afternoon against a very physical opponent. Keeper Katie Barker again showed her progression with an outstanding display of controlling her 18 yard box.
The girls await to see who they will play in the semi final.
