AFC Llwydcoed - 2
Abergavenny Town FC - 1
ABERGAVENNY Town’s reserve side lost their fixture at Pen-y-Pound Stadium to the weather last Saturday, but the first team, who had played out a goalless draw at home to Caldicot Town in midweek, travelled to AFC Llwydcoed.
A biting cold wind and gale-like conditions greeted them, but with the wind at their backs Town were soon in their stride, going ahead after 10 minutes when Sean Feeley broke into the box.
Feeley beat one defender, rounded the goalkeeper, and despite other defenders surrounding him, managed to find the net.
Five minutes later Feeley found himself in a similar position but this time the goalkeeper pulled out a save.
With Town in the ascendency, Nathan Davies powered in a long shot which the goalkeeper spilled but recovered in time. Feeley was soon in action again, finding himself free in the box, but delayed his shot and Coed’s defenders snuffed out the chance.
Early in the second half, Town began to rue their missed chances when Llwydcoed equalised, and with 15 minutes remaining went further ahead. Town ignored the difficult playing conditions, forcing a succession of corners as they pressed for an equaliser. Nathan Davies forced a finger-tip save from Coed’s goalkeeper, but in the end the hosts claimed the points.
Town are at home on Saturday, kicking-off at 2.30pm when they entertain high flying Pontypridd Town who are pressing hard to win the division. The reserves are without a fixture.
