IT looked as if the summer rains of 2012 had struck again for local cricket with games cancelled at Abergavenny, Crickhowell and Sudbrook but Ledbury bucked the trend and welcomed The Beavers to a Marches League 4th Division game.

Inserted, Ledbury lost three early wickets and slowly got back into the game but the tail folded against Nathan Byrne who finished with five wickets for 19.

Dan Cooke and Tom Griffiths got the side off to a blistering start with Cooke being particularly aggressive for his 61 and although four wickets were lost Abergavenny were comfortable winners by 6 wickets.

The season has reached the half way stage and weather permitting (although bad weather is forecast again for the end of the week) the Beavers will play their first home game of the season at Crickhowell against Woolhope next Saturday.
