Govilon - 4 Cwmbran Town - 3

WITH Cwmbran Stadium being unavailable yet again, Govilon's long awaited match against Cwmbran Town was switched to Pen-y-Pound. Govilon got off to the perfect start when Joe Palmer's blistering drive found the top left hand corner of Wise's net, and it was Palmer who was instrumental in Govilon's second goal when his low hard cross was spilled into his net by Wise. However Cwmbran hit back immediately with a long range effort, and within minutes were equal when they were quicker to pounce on a loose ball in the box. Craig Norman restored Govilon's lead early in the second half, but Cwmbran kept pressing and were rewarded when an unstoppable strike found the top corner of Parson's net. It was left to George Clarke to make himself a hero when his late strike found the net to claim all three points. Govilon's final match of the season is away at Fairfield Utd. on Saturday (3.00pm), and in all probability this will be their final match under the banner of Govilon AFC, as it looks increasingly likely the club will never return to Govilon. Instead the club will probably remain at Pen-y-Pound Stadium and embrace a name change.
