CRICKHOWELL RFC has received a financial boost from TalkTalk, the home phone, broadband and mobile provider, who will sponsor the club for the next 12 months.
The funding from TalkTalk will be put towards the refurbishment of the two medical rooms at the club.
Alongside the sponsorship, TalkTalk is investing £50,000 in technology to bring best value broadband offers to Crickhowell. TalkTalk is expanding its Next Generation Network in the area, which gives customers access to fast, reliable broadband services for all of the family's needs.
Crickhowell RFC play in WRU league Division Six. Made up of four teams they have one senior team one youth team and three junior teams, all playing regularly throughout the season. The club prides itself on bringing together all kinds of people from the local community and welcomes anyone interested in getting involved in the sport.
Crickhowell Chairman Shaun Ellis said, "We are delighted that TalkTalk is supporting Crickhowell RFC over the coming year. With support from TalkTalk we will be able to maintain and improve facilities at the club. The donation will be used for the refurbishment of our two medical rooms".
TalkTalk's Commercial Director Tristia Clarke explained, "Investing in the local area allows us to bring our great value offers to even more families in the area and we are proud to be supporting Crickhowell RFC. They are in the heart of the community and we wish them every success with their endeavours both on and off the field over the coming months."
It's exciting times at Parc Broyd pre-season for Crickhowell RFC as they undertake an ambitious programme both on and off the pitch.
After consolidating their position in what was for them a new League last season with a top half finish competing against some very useful Cardiff based sides, in the close season they have recruited well and really fancy a chance at doing even better this coming year.
With a new coaching team of player Coach Alan Taylor from Brecon and backs coach Mark Withy, pre-season training is seeing the boys chomping at the bit and ready to do battle.
It's also great news for the ever expanding youngsters at the club as for the first time, Crickhowell will be fielding a youth team, competing in the district youth league.
Perhaps even more exciting for the club, they have launched a new funding scheme with a weekly Lottery draw which can result in some very big cash prizes of up to £10,000.
This is an ambitious project which will secure the future of rugby across all ages for the area and the club is hoping that the community will buy into the weekly 'flutter' with tickets being on sale at several outlets within the town and surrounding villages.
Shaun Ellis and his committee also have a great Sunday afternoon planned on August 12, with Jamie Roberts, Gwynn Jones and Rick O'Shea in a 'Meet the Doctors' event with Sunday lunch thrown in!
With several more ideas planned it seems fairly sure that Crickhowell RFC will continue to be a major provider of sporting opportunities for all the surrounding community.
