DURING Glangrwyney’s First XI match against Kington, opening bowlers Mike Devoy and Nathan Byrne bowled accurately through the first 15 overs with no reward.

With Kington’s batsmen starting to play some attacking shots Julian Hardwick claimed the first wicket, however Kington reached the midway drinks break at 90-1.

The break worked to Glangrywney’s advantage, Hardwick picked up another wicket in the next over, and bowled excellently to end up with a well deserved five wicket haul.

Skipper Mike Devoy rotated the bowlers at the other end picking up three wickets himself with the other bowlers providing good support. The fielders supported their bowlers well, with all catches offered being taken. For Kington, opener W.Morgan was the mainstay with a careful 80.

In reply, after an early loss, Glangrwyney made a steady start with N. Byrne and Drew Heffernan content to try and see off the opening bowlers. The loss of a couple of wickets set Glangrwyney back, and although Mike Devoy and R.Sharp batted well, they ran out of partners and fell short of the target. For Kington, wickets were shared between M.Green, W.Morgan, and B.Smith.
