CRICKHOWELL Coyotes Netball Club have made a thunderous start to their new season in South East Wales Division Two after winning their opening pair of games.
At the end of last season the club secured its second successive promotion, however due to a number of players leaving for university, and the Coyotes commitment to developing younger players, a decision was made to remain in Division Two.
The Coyotes 48-24 victory over Cwmbran was especially pleasing as the team contained two under 17 players, Megan Jones and Vicky Nuttall, who were making their debuts for the senior team.
Individuals in the club have continued to perform at a high standard with Georgi Wood winning five caps in total for Wales; this included representing Wales in an international tournament in Malta earlier this year. Georgi's success has led to her being offered two sports scholarships at Christ College and Hartbury College.
In addition Megan Rowlands and Vicky Nuttall have been selected to take part in the Welsh Netball age group trials later this month, having represented Powys in the recent Welsh High Performance Hub tournament.
The Coyotes train at 7pm every Monday at Crickhowell Sports Centre, new players are always welcome, for more information please contact [email protected]">[email protected].
