Newport Corinthians - 4 Govilon - 5
Govilon staged a remarkable come-back after being 3-0 behind at half-time to triumph over Newport Corinthians on the weekend. The recovery was led in the third minute of the second half by Colin Morgan, who went on to become Govilon's hat trick hero, when he met Dean Morgan's square ball on the six yard line and powered a shot past the Corries 'keeper. Govilon's second goal was delivered in similar fashion five minutes later but this time it was hit man Heckles who got on the score sheet. Govilon drew level on the hour when Colin Morgan rose to meet Craig Norman's excellent free kick and headed home. The impetus was with Govilon at this stage although they were dented when Corries restored their lead shortly after Morgan's equaliser. Ben Bannon showed delightful ball skills to bring Govilon level once more, and Colin Morgan put his side ahead for the first time, completing his hat trick, as Govilon claimed all three points. Govilon's final home match against Cwmbran Town on Saturday has been postponed as Govilon have four players, James Hughes, Dean Morgan, Craig Norman and Joe Palmer on Gwent County FA duty against North Wales Coast FA at Newtown FC on Sunday. Gwent FA know a victory will see them top the table of the Welsh FA's and be Wales' representatives for the final stages of the Uefa Regions Cup due to be played in Estonia. The game against Cwmbran Town was in itself a reversed fixture as it should have been played at Cwmbran Stadium, which is unavailable on Saturday. This postponement means that when it is re-arranged it will be played at Cwmbran, entailing Govilon has completed all their home fixtures for the season. Govilon FC who remain in dispute with Llanfoist Fawr Community Council as the trustees of Govilon Football Field/Pavilion, will sit down and think seriously about their future now the one year 'Pen-y-Pound experiment' is over.
