Elsewhere the 'D' team lost its final match of the autumn season by three matches to two against Cwmbran 'B', thus finishing bottom, having failed to register a single victory. However, things can only get better. The ever present Mark Nicholls won his match, but this time was joined by Chris Owen, who achieved his best ever result thus far against a good opponent. It can only be onwards and upwards for the spring season.

On the last Friday before Xmas, the 'C' team finally won its last match against Newport 'I' 4-0, and ended up winning the title. However, it was an incredibly tight finish, as the top three teams ended up with exactly the same number of points and victories, and were only separated by actual points conceded in matches, which resulted in Abergavenny being crowned as champions. It actually came down to the very last match, when, although losing, Peter Steed managed to win a vital set which ensured the title and promotion. Can they achieve another promotion in the spring?
