Abergavenny began the 2016 season with their Opening Day last Saturday.

The event was well attended by members old and new who witnessed the ceremonial first bowl of the season delivered by the club President Robert Poynter.

This was followed by a friendly competitive game played between rinks made up by club members. The members then enjoyed a buffet tea kindly provided by the ladies section of the club.

The competition matches will begin this week with a game in the EMBA against Crickhowell and a GBL fixture against Brynmawr. Both of these games will be played at Avenue Road. This season Abergavenny will be playing in the first division of the MBA, division two of the GBL and the South Wales and Monmouthshire Bowls League. In addition there will be several mixed friendly games throughout the season.
