A PARTY of 44 Abergavenny Bowlers hit the Torquay Leisure complex in late November for their annual five day tour.

In addition to playing and achieving some success against mixed team from Leicester the group also played out a mixed rinks competition.

The games were all played in competitive but friendly spirit. The final result was a draw between the rink skipped by Martin Atkins, who bowls at the Gilwern Bowls Club and the rink skipped by the current Welsh Pairs Champion Gethin Hill, with both teams scoring 51 points.

It is believed that a final decider will take place when the outdoor bowling season commences in April 2017.

This is the fourth year the group has travelled to the resort on a Winter tour and plans are already in place for 2017.

Organiser Maurice Padfield has circulated the details of next year’s tour and it already looks fully booked.

It is possible there may be some unavoidable cancellations, so anyone interested in putting their name on a reserve list can contact Maurice for details by emailing [email protected].
