BLAENAVON stormed to a eight-try 50 point win over Blaina on the weekend and nilled them in the process.

Five minutes from the kick-off, and full back Gareth Groves opened proceedings by scoring the first try for Blaenavon. Outside half Tom Haines kicked the conversion.

Two minutes later Gareth Groves beat the Blaina defenders with a great run to score the second try which was duly converted by Haines.

Fifteen minutes in and centre James Davies scored the third try near the corner flag.

Haines was wide with the kick but on target for the next one after centre Alan Scammell scored Blaenavon's fourth try.

With the score at 26-0, an injury to second row Jamie Noble allowed replacement Andrew Trumper to come on, playing his first game of the season after recovering from

a knee injury. Tom Haines scored the fifth try and converted it himself with the last kick of the first half.

The Blaenavon coaches were soon forced to make more changes. Glenn Harvey came on for wing Ryan Basham and Jamie Ireland replaced Lewis John.

Scrum half Lloyd Parker scored the sixth try and 15 minutes later Tom Haines scored

the seventh before kicking the conversion.

Lewis John went back on to replace tight head Lee Baker and with five minutes remaining, left wing Dan Morgan scored the last try of the match after a good run by Alan Scammell.
