ABERGAVENNY’S newly-formed ‘E’ team got off to a splendid start against Monmouth ‘D’ , winning their match 4-0, with the fifth match tied owing to players on both sides missing.
All the matches were closely fought, with Rhys Pritchard not losing a set in his match.

The ‘D’ team suffered a reversal of fortune, losing by four matches to one against Monmouth ‘C’. Only Lee Nightingall was able to win, but the result could have been different if both Mark Nicholls and Simon Cave had managed to sneak wins, each just failing in the fifth set!

The ‘B’ team lost their first match of the spring season by 3-2 against David Lloyd ‘A’, with only Mike Logan and Ellis Lawrence winning their matches. However, given that this is a step up for the side, this was a creditable result, and there will be time to improve!

The ‘A’ team just lost 3-2 to the side that finished second last season, Rhiwbina ‘A’. Once again, Lewys Hurst won comfortably, and he was ably supported by Steve Williams. This will be another challenging season for Abergavenny’s top side.

The ‘C’ team commenced their campaign under new skipper Mitchell Lawrence with a 3-2 victory over a competent Newport ‘H” side. Mitchell led from the front, winning in five sets, and he was ably supported by Tim Woodier and Matthew Thomas, who both won their matches.
