ABERGAVENNY’S aqua sensation Alex Griffiths is fast making a name for himself in the poolsides of Wales as a strong swimmer who is causing all the right ripples.

The 13-year-old Crickhowell High School pupil swims for City of Newport Swimming Club, competes at national level and is a member of the Swim Wales Skills Academy.

Griffiths holds several all time Welsh records, as well as being currently ranked number one in Wales for many disciplines and within the top five in Great Britain.

He has just competed in the South East Wales Regional Championships and swam in nine different events, qualifying for the finals and gaining five Gold, three Silver and a Bronze medal, as well as bagging some new personal bests.
