THE Heads of the Valleys Tag Soo Doa Martial Arts club entered their first National tournament recently and returned with an impressive medal haul.

Based in Brynmawr, the club which opened in January are part of the World Tang Soo Do Association (Traditional Korean Martial Art).

The club took a mini-bus of 17 students to compete as part of the Welsh team at the Coventry Sports Connexion Center, alongside 360 other competitors from all over the UK.

The group consisted of students of all ages and grades including a healthy number of new starters who have joined the club in the last three months.

The whole team competed to a high standard and took home a total of 30 trophies, which comprised of 12 Gold, 11 Silver, and seven Bronze.

The club’s instructor Angus Rogers took three Gold medals in Weapons (Sword), and Forms and Free Sparring in the Senior Black Belt division, earning him the title of National Grand Champion 2017.

The club’s success can only be attributed to the new purpose built location, which has now over 50 members training in the Traditional Korean Art of Tang Soo Do.

Beginner classes are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday mornings. For more details call Angus Rogers on 07815518049 or visit www.walestangsoodo.co.uk.
