ABERGAVENNY Tennis Club held its first annual awards night on Saturday to celebrate the years' successes and make presentations to its tournament winners and members who have made a special contribution towards the club in 2012.

Thanks to the organisation of Nicola Morris, Alice Garlick and Mary Morgan, more than 65 players and parents were in attendance at Trinity Hall.

The junior awards were presented by coaches Robert Wedlake and Sean Jones, who named Jack Grayer 'Junior Clubman of the Year' for his impressive tournament performances, valuable contribution to the club in his role as a Tennis Leader and dedication to the club's successful teams.

'Player of the Year' went to Jack Gallacher for his rise from relative beginner to a top county performer in a short space of time.

Trophies were also presented on the night to the winners of the Junior Championships which ran throughout the season.

Club Captain Alice Garlick presented the Senior tournament awards, with Lloyd Barcenilla picking up the clean sweep of Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles titles.

Chairman Mike Buck presented the Chairman's Cup to Patsy Cole on behalf of the team of members who developed the ATC Recipe Book which has also been recognised nationally for its success.

The Most Improved Player awards went to Sean Jones, Martin Phillips, Eulanwy Sharren and Michelle Pavett.

To round off a successful night, the members were given exciting news on developments in the club's quest to upgrade its Premier Carpet courts and Mini Tennis courts to LTA-standard floodlighting.
