Aber's Strong and Successful Squash
ABERGAVENNY Squash Club, sponsored by Robert Price and Smiles Better, have got off to a strong start in the second half of the season.
The 'A' team, currently in the Welsh Premier league are sitting mid table and the 'B' team, currently in Welsh division four are in a similar situation.
This is an exceptional achievement when you consider the size and catchment of the club and the high quality of the leagues competing throughout South Wales.
The club has recently grown in stature, gaining more members and has seen an improvement in the playing quality of some of the existing members, especially in the 'B' team.
The junior development section has also now filtered into competitive squash. Elinor Evans, Sophie Nicholls, Matthew Hughes, Kelvin Powell, Zak and Ben Main competed against Newport squash club in a friendly competition and came away with a few wins under their belt.
Abergavenny Squash Club meets on Monday evenings at the town's Leisure Centre from 7pm onwards, Saturday mornings from 10am onwards, and league matches are played on a Thursday evening from 7pm.
Any interested parties are welcome to swing by and get the chance to see ex-professionals Lewys Hurst and Jethro Binns in action.
