THREE riders from Abergavenny have won through to the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) finals.

Holly Thomas, her brother Lloyd, and Bronwen Jones will be competing at Bury Farm in Buckinghamshire in April.

The trio are pupils at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools, whose equestrian team shone in the qualifying competition at Kings Equestrian Centre in Herefordshire.

Individual rider Lloyd, 12, tasted victory in the 90cms section, and was runner-up in the 80cm section.

Sixteen-year-old Holly was part of the schools’ 90cms team which achieved first place and the 1m team which was third.

Bronwen, 17, was a member of the schools’ 80cms team which were the runners-up in their class.

Team manager Camille Geisz, a keen rider and Classics teacher at Monmouth School for Girls, was delighted to see 13 Monmouthshire riders progress to the finals.
