Govilon - 3

Abercarn Utd - 1

GOVILON bagged another win on the weekend against an Abercarn outfit who left it a little too late to pile on the pressure.

The home side took the lead after 25 minutes when Jamie Laurent flew down the left wing, cut inside, got into the box and slid the ball to Dean Morgan who turned and hammered the ball into the roof of the net.

Govilon increased their lead just before half time when astute defence splitting pass by Neville Harris opened up the path for Craig Norman to score.

After the break, Abercarn were a little more lively and Danny Parsons in Govilon's goal was called into action several times to keep their lead intact.

Govilon thought they had notched another when Dean Morgan's effort grazed the side netting, but had to wait until five minutes from time when Craig Norman set him free to score again and give Govilon a comfortable cushion.

It was Parsons who was next in action with two tremendous saves as Abercarn piled on late pressure, getting their reward when they scored after a goalmouth scramble from a corner. On Saturday Govilon are home to Fairfield Utd. (3.00pm)
