JUST before Christmas, members of Abergavenny Road Club held a fund raising evening in aid of Air Ambulance, which attracted a couple of famous faces from the club's past.
The evening was the brainchild of Aber RC member Graham Edwards, who was air lifted to Nevill Hall from Raglan Roundabout after being involved in a collision with a car whilst out on a training ride.
Held at Abergavenny's Kings Arms, a special attempt was made to contact former members who had moved, and consequently the evening turned into something of a reunion.
Over 30 past and present members attended, including track coach for Canada and overall cycling coach for British Columbia, Richard Wooles, alongside ex- grand tour rider and now Director Sportiv for the Endura cycling team, Julian Winn.
Both Wooles and Winn provided kit worn by famous riders for auction in aid of the Air Ambulance, and over £400 was raised for the charity during a very memorable evening.
