Abergavenny Squash Club’s ‘E’ team hosted a strong Newport ‘H’ side and lost 5-0. The only consolation was that sets were actually won this time. The team remain bottom.

The ‘D’ team played a promotion seeking Abertillery and performed creditably, only losing 3-2. Both Rob Phillips and Dean Jackson Johns secured good victories, both coming from behind to do so. The team remain in sixth place.

On the same night, the ‘B’ team came up against the league leaders and favourites for promotion Cardiff Metropolitan, and narrowly lost by three matches to two. The team started well and, at one stage, were leading by two matches to one, with both Gareth Hughes-Jones and Carl Whiteman securing wins. However, the Cardiff side ultimately prevailed, with their English female international winning the final tie against Mike Logan. The team drop into second place behind their opponents.

A weakened ‘C’ team still managed to secure a comprehensive victory over Monmouth ‘E’ by five matches to nil. All the side are to be congratulated, as this means that the team maintains its push for promotion and remain at the top of the league.

The ‘A’ team had a solid 4-1 victory over Llanelli ‘A’, with both Jethro Binns and Jayden Gough winning their matches convincingly. They were ably supported by Steve Williams and John Procter, who ground out good wins. As a result, the team move up one place to fifth.
