GOLFING youngster Addie Francis has had another fantastic year travelling the world and competing in various competitions. The talented nine-year-old won the British Junior Callawy qualifier at Aldwickbury Golf Club and was asked to represent Great Britain at both the Odyssey Junior World Putting Championships at Torrey Pine and the Callaway World Championships at Santa Fe. Addie won the Torrey Pine event and came 63rd in Santa Fe, despite being one of the youngest in the field. Addie also played in the European championships held in Scotland earlier in the year and will be returning next year and looking to improve on her 14th position. Addie enjoys fantastic support from Golf Development Wales and her coach John McDonald at the Celtic Manor, where she was recently invited to play with Phil Price and Stuart Manley. Addie is also the only female in her age group to qualify to compete at the Lee Westwood National Finals in Newcastle Upon Tyne next Sunday/Monday and will meet Westwood following his appearance at the Ryder Cup. Addie's Mum, Tracy Francis told the Chronicle, "Addie has enjoyed so many amazing opportunities through her golf and met so many great people. In particular, I would like to thank Irene Dodd for her ongoing support and the Monmouthshire Golf Club, who have been very supportive. Although only nine, Addie has now had her official ladies handicap and plays 18 holes weekly from the ladies tees with Irene." Tracy added, "I'd also like to thank Ann Marie and Charlie Jones from Xcav8 for donating Addie with t-shirts for her practise rounds in America."
