Abergavenny Town Council is looking to recruit a community engagement officer to ‘act as a bridge between the town council and community, ensuring that the needs, concerns, and aspirations of community members are understood and addressed’. The 21 hour a week post is set to attract a salary of almost £18,000 a year.

According to an advert on the town council website the role will involve carrying out a varied programme of administrative and clerical, projects and finance related duties and assist the principal officer in the ‘smooth running of the council’, which has an annual budget of £721,000

Duties will include managing community relationships, designing initiatives, events, or campaigns that support community development, resilience and engagement both online and offline, acting as a liaison between the community and town council, relaying feedback, concerns, and ‘suggestions to ensure transparency and responsiveness’.

The successful candidate may also be called upon to co-ordinate logistics for events, support social media and latest news articles for the town council website and co-ordinate mayoral diary.
