CLYDACH Wasps manager Phil Pritchard has vowed to fight back and win the of Gwent County League Division One title again next season after his side were controversially denied promotion to the Welsh League. The Wasps thought they had earned the right to display their talents in the Welsh League Division Three when they wrapped up the championship with a 3-0 victory over RTB Ebbw Vale last week. But in a shock move, Welsh League officials deemed that Clydach's facilities did not meet the requirements for higher league status and they couldn't go up. That leaves the the Wasps having it all to do again next year. Disgruntled boss Phil Pritchard said: "It came out of the blue because our facilities are pretty good. But the Welsh League required us to make improvements to our changing rooms. "It amounts to about £20,000. The league gave us only 14 days to raise the money so we were unable to do this. We wanted to go up but we haven't got the funds available. "It is disappointing because we have one of the best changing rooms around. It is a blow after such a successful season. All the hard work has gone to waste. "But we can't do much about it. All we can do is repeat our performance this year and come back and win the league again next season." Clydach have enjoyed a magnificent season, dominating Gwent County Divsion One from start to finish. The club produced sublime football throughout to clinch the title comfortably from second placed Cwmbran Celtic, who now look set to take the Wasps place in the Welsh League. But despite the promotion setback Pritchard believes his side have the credentials to bounce back and show their metal next season. He added: "I am delighted to win the league and particularly the way in which we did it. The success of the season has been down to hard work and commitment. "Added to our success, the second team reached a cup final and the under-16s face a cup final against Monmouth Town. "So it has been an excellent season for the club as a whole."
