A 73-YEAR-OLD woman was found dead at a popular town fishing lake.
The woman, who has not been named, is thought to have been found in the water, behind Brynmawr’s Asda superstore on Sunday, August 8.
Police were called to the small lake, which is flanked by Pond Lane and a housing estate off Lakeside Way, in mid-afternoon.
A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “We were called to a pond near Blaina Road, Brynmawr at about 3pm to a report that a 73-year-old woman had been found unresponsive.
“Paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service attended and confirmed that the woman was dead.
"Her next of kin have been informed.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious.
"A report has been submitted to the coroner in relation to the death.”
