A 22-YEAR-OLD woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a fire in a Brynmawr flat.

The woman was taken into police custody after being treated at Nevill Hall hospital for smoke inhalation but later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Two people were rescued and seven people were evacuated after the blaze in the early hours of Wednesday morning after fire crews were called to tackle the fire in a second floor flat in London House, Beaufort Street, Brynmawr.

Fire crews from Brynmawr, Ebbw Vale and Blaina fought the blaze, breaking down the door of a second floor flat to rescue two people.

Residents were told to leave their flats and kept outside for around 45 minutes while the fire was brought under control. They were allowed back in at 2.45am.
