LAST season's Benevolent Cup winners Clydach Wasps had a narrow 2-1 home win over Goytre in Saturday's cup tie.
Scott Ambler put the Wasps 1-0 up with a goal scored in the 15th minute. Five minutes later Philip Sorrell put Goyte level. With the score locked at 1-1, the Wasps winner was scored in the 40th minute by James Powell from a shot outside the box.
Govilon have slumped to a 4-1 first round defeat in the Benevolent Cup courtesy of Blaenavon Blues.
Blaenavon's Ryan Hewish scored two from the penalty spot, and Brad Jones and Leigh Carrick chipped in with one apiece.
Ben Bergoyne scored the Govilon goal.
Match of the day in the Premier Division saw top dogs Gilwern and District beaten on their own turf by Pandy 1-3.
Andrew McCarthy put Gilwern and District 1-0 up with a goal scored in the 30th minute. Five minutes later Pandy were back on a level playing field thanks to a strike from Gareth Staphnill.
Into the second-half and an early goal by Kirk Morgan gave Pandy the advantage, before Mike Smith's goal in the 70th minute sealed the match in the visitor's favour.
Man of the match for Gilwern and District was Mark Prosser.
Man of the match for Pandy was Mike Smith.
With a game in hand Pandy lead the Premier Division by one point.
In Division One Mardy had a cracking home win over a visiting Tranch side. Mardy started the game very well taking a 2-0 lead early on through goals from young Joe Hooton, on only his second game for Mardy after moving up from under 18 level and James Copeland.
In a very competitive game Tranch equalised before Tom Copeland restored Mardy's two goal lead with a pile driver of a strike with his right foot.
Tranch then got themselves back into the game with a well worked goal before half time before scoring an equaliser 15 minutes into the second half.
Mardy then hit three goals in the space of 10 minutes through Lewis Edwards with a close range effort, Tom Copland with a cross come shot that found the top right hand corner and the final Mardy strike came from Owen Edwards with a 20 yard left footed shot which found the top left hand corner.
Tranch grabbed a consolation goal when a mix up in the Mardy defence led to a goal mouth scramble and the ball found its way into the goal to make the final score 6 –4.
Man of the match for Mardy was Lewis Edwards.
The Abergavenny Thursdays fell to a dispiriting 0-8 defeat at Pen-y-Pound as Tranch run rampant.
Prescoed stay top of Division Two following their 5-2 home win over Pontypool Town 'B'.
With ten minutes remaining and the score at 2-2, Prescoed upped the ante to score three more and seal the win.
Man of the match Ohren Stewart (2), Patrick Mbefang (2), and Andrew Buller scored the Prescoed goals.
Usk Town 'B' collected maximum points from their 2-3 away win over Trevethin 'B'.
Usk's goals came from Peter Maddocks, Joe Henry and Adam Glen.
Man of the match for Usk was Peter Phillips.
Clydach 'B' narrowly beat Llanarth 'B" 3-4 away. Nathan Wall (2), Andrew Bufton and Neil Evans all did the honours for Clydach.

THE Gwent Central League was saddened to hear of the sudden death of Abergavenny's Graham Jones.
Father of Nicky, Paul, Kenny and David and the late Colin Jones, Graham was a former secretary of the Abergavenny and District Junior and Youth League and a referee in the local leagues.
Graham and his late wife Dot were regular football spectators around the Abergavenny area, especially at Pen-y-Pound.
The league's deepest sympathy is extended to all Graham's family.
In honour of Graham a minute's silence was observed at Saturday's Usk Town v Llanfoist match.
